Mathematics - counting


The children are engaging in mathematical activities throughout the day in Early Years setting, whether the activity is directed or self-chosen. When asked ‘how many do you have?’ the response can often be ‘loads.’ So, over the last term the children have been encouraged to count carefully and to ensure they have checked their set once more. In turn, when asked ‘how do you know?’ the children can confidently explain they know because they have counted their set carefully.
