Gymnastics Competition

Well what a success, the Key Stage 1 Gymnastics event at our school. There were six schools in total competing, with two schools on the waiting list to enter. Schools are very keen to enter.

The competition ran as a loop of stations with warm up stations, competition stations and rest stations for the vault and the floor. We had two outside judges from Newport Gym club, who I think knew a few of the children from different schools.

One school arrived with very little knowledge of the floor routine…our little team helped those 4 children learn the moves ready before they had to compete. They were amazing – so confident in their own ability!!

And the results…….

It was a really close competition with a very high standard in both the floor and the vault. For each team the best 3 scores were totalled up. Hinstock pipped us by 0.3 and came first, so we came second. So close, they were brilliant. Well done girls!

It was a pleasure to run this event at our school and a very big thank you to all those involved. Mr Hughes one of the school governors came to support and look after the team, he was astounded at their skill level and ability to help the other team! A real credit to the school!!
