Summer Reading Challenge 20170

Reading Challenge Leaflet

What is the Summer Reading Challenge?

Every year, thousands of families all over the country take part in the UK’s biggest reading event for children in libraries, the Summer Reading Challenge, run by the charity The Reading Agency.

The aim of the challenge is to get children to read any six books of their choice from their library during the summer holidays.

Each year there’s a different theme; this year it’s Animal Agents, illustrated by the UK’s best-selling children’s illustrator Tony Ross!

Children sign up at their local library, and collect incentive prizes for every two books they read. When they complete their six books, they receive a special Summer Reading Challenge medal and certificate, all free of charge! Amazing!

Registration opens from Saturday 15th of July. Keep an eye out for special Summer Reading Challenge activities and events over the summer too. You can check what is going on at your local library here: https://new.shropshire.gov.uk/libraries/library-events/ or alternatively you can ask library staff for details. Most events are first come first served so book early to avoid disappointment.
