Curriculum

At the heart of our curriculum are our school values,  Collaboration, Aspiration, Resilience and Positivity. These values underpin everything we do and help to shape children’s attitudes towards learning, relationships and personal development. We aim to provide a broad, engaging and inclusive curriculum that inspires curiosity, nurtures confidence and enables every child to achieve their full potential.

Alongside our values, we have high expectations for all members of our school community. Children are encouraged to be Ready, Respectful and Safe in all that they do. We teach and model these expectations throughout the school day, helping children to make positive choices, build strong relationships and take responsibility for their actions. By embedding these principles in daily school life, we create a nurturing environment where every child feels valued, supported and able to thrive.

Intent

Our curriculum is designed to provide all children with the knowledge, skills and experiences they need to become successful learners and responsible citizens. We aim to foster a love of learning through rich and engaging opportunities that develop curiosity, creativity and independence. Underpinned by our values of Collaboration, Aspiration, Resilience and Positivity, our curriculum encourages children to aim high, work together, persevere through challenges and approach learning with confidence and enthusiasm. Through our focus on being Ready, Respectful and Safe, we support children to develop the personal qualities and behaviours needed to thrive both in school and beyond.

Implementation

Our curriculum is carefully planned to ensure progression in knowledge and skills across all subjects while meeting the needs of our infant-aged learners. High-quality teaching, purposeful play, practical experiences and meaningful cross-curricular links help bring learning to life. Teachers create inclusive classrooms where children feel safe to explore, question and take risks in their learning. We explicitly teach and model our values and the expectations of being Ready, Respectful and Safe, ensuring these are woven through all aspects of school life. Regular assessment enables teachers to adapt learning, provide support where needed and celebrate success.

Impact

The impact of our curriculum is seen in children who are enthusiastic, confident and motivated learners. They demonstrate increasing knowledge and skills across the curriculum and are well prepared for the next stage of their education. Children show the characteristics embodied by our CARP values, working collaboratively, aspiring to achieve their best, demonstrating resilience when faced with challenge and maintaining a positive attitude towards learning. They understand and consistently apply the principles of being Ready, Respectful and Safe, contributing positively to the school community. As a result, our children leave the infant school as happy, successful learners with strong foundations for lifelong learning and personal development.
