Intent
We aim to give all children as much experience as they can to love the world around them and make sense of it. We give the children responsibilities to help look after our class and school, which develops respect for our town and world.
We aim to nurture knowledge, kindness, wisdom, and desire to make our school a more eco-friendly place and ultimately to be part of a more sustainable world. We promote awareness of national campaigns to highlight ways to respect the environment.

Implementation
The Eco-Schools programme is focused on ten key topics. These are:

The Eco School committee complete an environmental review and this raises which areas the school are going to work on during the year.
Each year the children take part in:

- Big Schools’ Birdwatch – RSPB
- Fairtrade Fortnight
- Waste Week – The Pod

Impact of the Eco-Schools Council
The Eco-Schools Council at Market Drayton Infant School empowers pupils to become active citizens who care for their school, local community and the wider environment. Through pupil-led discussions, projects and campaigns, children develop a strong sense of responsibility and understand how their actions can make a positive difference. The council encourages pupils to make environmentally friendly choices, such as reducing waste, recycling and caring for nature, helping to build lifelong sustainable habits. By working collaboratively with staff, pupils and the community, members develop confidence, leadership skills and an increased awareness of global environmental issues. As a result, children leave Market Drayton Infant School with a growing understanding of their role in protecting the planet and contributing positively to society.
